The Texas Hill Country is renowned for its quality hunting opportunities, ranging from white-tailed deer and feral hogs to wild turkey and wing shooting of migratory and native game birds. Guide services can be arranged through the Escondido Lake Club.

Parks
There are numerous parks that are ideal for camping, hiking, swimming, and picnicking. These include:

Granite Beach Water Park – Offers marina, picnic spots, restaurant, beach toys, water trampoline, superslide and more.
Nightengale Archaeological Center – Working prehistoric site offering seasonal guided tours and educational exhibits.
Balconies Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge – 46,000 acres of protected land featuring wildlife and wildflower tours, trails and photography opportunities.
Adam Johnson and Lakeside Park – These two adjacent parks operated by the City of Marble Falls offering picnicking, numerous shade trees and playscape.
Lyndon B. Johnson State Historical Park – Preserving President Johnson’s “Texas White House” also provides access to Sauer-Beckman 1850s Farm.

River City Grille – Live Music on Tuesday and Saturday on the covered deck overlooking Lake Marble Falls.

From Austin

Take I-35 N to Highway 71 W toward Johnson City.
Proceed on Highway 71 W past Highway 281 to FM 2147.
Turn right at FM 2147.
You will see Escondido’s stone walls and main gate about two miles on your left.
You have arrived.

From Horseshoe Bay Airpark

Follow Limestone St. to Pawnee Trail
Turn Left on Pawnee to Nolen Dr.
Turn left on Nolan Dr. to Hi Stirrup
Turn right onto Hi Stirrup until you get Hi Cir S
Turn left on Hi Cir S and follow it down to FM 2147
Turn Left onto FM 2147
You will see Escondido’s stone walls and main gate less than a mile on your right.
You have arrived.

From Austin Airport

Take Airport Exit to HWY 71 West.
Drive approximately 45 miles to Highway 281 at which point you will cross over the 281 viaduct.
Stay on HWY 71 West for approximately 6.5 more miles until you see the sign for FM 2147 and Horseshoe Bay.
Turn right onto FM 2147.
You will see Escondido’s stone walls and main gate about two miles on your left.
You have arrived.

From Dallas

Take IH 35 South to Georgetown.
Exit on HWY 29 West to Burnet.
Take HWY 281 South to Marble Falls.
Go through Marble Falls and cross over the bridge.
Turn right on FM 2147 at the first light after the bridge.
You will see Escondido’s stone walls and main gate about seven miles on your right.
You have arrived.

From Houston

Take Interstate 10 to Columbus.
At Columbus, take HWY 71 and stay on HWY 71 West through Austin.
Drive approximately 50 miles, at which point you will cross over the 281 viaduct.
Stay on HWY 71 West for approximately 6.5 more miles until you see the sign for FM 2147 and Horseshoe Bay.
Turn right onto FM 2147.
You will see Escondido’s stone walls and main gate about two miles on your left.

From San Antonio

Take Us-281 N towards Marble Falls
Take a left at FM 2147
Proceed on FM 2147 past Horseshoe Bay Resort
You will see Escondido’s stone walls and main gate about two miles on your right.
You have arrived.

From Midland

From Midland, take HWY 158 to Sterling City.
Take HWY 87 through San Angelo to Brady, just south of Brady, take HWY 71 and stay on HWY 71 through Llano.
Drive approximately 29 miles on HWY 71 from Llano to FM 2147, turn left onto FM 2147.
You will see Escondido’s stone walls and main gate about two miles on your left.
