La Hacienda, a gathering place for the Escondido community is located off the 9th green and is set on a gentle rise overlooking the Tom Fazio golf course. It has become an integral part of the Escondido experience and lifestyle. With its rustic stone walls, ancient timbers, and expansive terrace, it has also served as an architectural focal point for the overall Escondido development.

La Hacienda plays a prominent role in the overall Escondido experience, especially as we launch the new private equity club program – The Club Residences, which offers its members use of an exquisite collection of European-inspired homes.

In 2011, the Texas Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture and Art (ICAA) launched the first John Staub Awards program to honor his influential legacy. The goal of this award is to recognize Texas’ designers and craftspeople, who have demonstrated excellence and sensitivity to classical and vernacular traditions. The awards will be presented annually.

Among much recognition, Michael G. Imber is the recipient of the 2010 and 2011 Palladio Award for outstanding achievement in traditional design and is the designer of the 2011 Southern Living Idea House built in Escondido Golf & Lake Club. Imber’s work has been featured in many statewide and national publications.

“We are very encouraged over the robust sales activity we’ve recently enjoyed,” said Escondido Golf & Lake Club Director of Membership and Real Estate Sales, Michael A. Tomnitz. “We’re seeing a huge turn-a-round in sales here. Prospective buyers have committed. It is expected that sales at Escondido Golf & Lake Club will continue at a robust pace as Horseshoe Bay and Escondido offer new programs and the community overall expands. Jamail’s, an upscale grocery store near Escondido Golf & Lake Club, will anchor a retail shopping center in Horseshoe Bay this spring. Scott & White Healthcare will break ground on November 16 for a specialty clinic and medical office building as phase one of a regional medical center. The new facility is located at the intersection of State Highway 281 and Highway 71.

The Escondido Idea House, the only Idea Home that will be featured in Southern Living this year, is a 6,000 square foot, 22-room Mediterranean-style stunner complete with a guest casita, pool, boathouse, dock and incredible outdoor kitchen. Area specialists and artisans from the builder, architect, interior and outdoor garden designers joined forces to weave their complimentary styles into an unmistakably one-of-kind Texas Hill Country star.

The goal of the Southern Living Idea House project is to inspire visitors by highlighting the state-of-the-art building materials and offer a glimpse into the cutting-edge trends in home-furnishing products for custom home building or do-it-yourself remodeling projects. The Escondido Idea House is expected to draw as many as 20,000 visitors from across the country. The home is open for tours July 4 – October 2, Wednesday – Saturday 11 AM – 5 PM and Sunday 1 – 5 PM. At 7pm, Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights got the party started with their authentic roadhouse rock, highlighted by their “papa blues and mama soul” style. Things got quite a bit louder when Cody Canada and The Departed took the stage with their unique blend of southern rock, country and “red dirt” music. With the crowd now on their feet, the Escondido Fireworks Extravaganza lit up the sky with an awesome display of patriotic pyrotechnics. Following the fireworks, Cody Canada and The Departed once again took the stage and played another rocking set which proved to be a fitting crescendo to Escondido’s Independence Day celebration.

Following the previous night’s festivities, Sunday, July 3rd, marked the official opening of Escondido’s spectacular new clubhouse, known as The Great House. Members and Guests were treated to a tastings of the new menu and toured the terrific new facility. Many members rounded out the weekend on Monday with one more round on the golf course while others enjoyed the new club boats and lake toys down at the Lake Club.
